The Asics Gel-Nimbus 28 represents the latest evolution of ASICS' premium training shoe line, designed for runners who prioritize comfort and cushioning without sacrificing lightness and a smoother running experience. These shoes combine soft, enveloping cushioning with an optimized transition, maintaining the cloud-like feel that characterizes the Nimbus.

They are especially recommended for runners with a neutral gait who are looking for long distances and daily training sessions , from easy runs to medium and long distances like marathons, as well as for medium- to high-weight athletes who need joint protection without feeling too "sunken" into the foam. They can also be suitable for runners with a slightly supinated gait looking for comfort and protection on the road.

The upper uses a redesigned engineered mesh (knit) fabric that is lighter and more breathable than previous versions, with fewer seams and a softer feel around the foot. This material promotes continuous ventilation, reduces weight, and comfortably hugs the foot, with a padded tongue and collar for easy on and off, and improved eyelets for a customized fit without pressure points.
