The Hoka Speedgoat 7 is a maximalist trail running shoe geared for mountain performance, combining high cushioning, great traction, and a new, more reactive midsole to improve efficiency over long distances without losing stability on technical terrain.

It is designed for medium to medium-heavy runners who prioritize protection and comfort over speed, especially on long runs, ultras, and extended training sessions. It performs best on technical terrain, mountain trails, rock, loose dirt, and mixed courses, where grip and stability are key, although it is not the most agile option for very runnable trails or high paces.

The upper has been redesigned to offer a more secure and precise fit, with better foot support in technical areas. It uses a resistant and relatively structured fabric, with gaiter integration and a refined heel collar that improves lockdown. Even so, it maintains a certain stiffness and a somewhat snug fit, especially in the forefoot area.

The midsole incorporates supercritical EVA foam, one of the main novelties of the model, which provides greater energy return, lightness, and durability compared to previous versions. It maintains high profiles that absorb impact very well, offering a comfortable and stable ride even when fatigued, with a more fluid and dynamic transition without losing the typical protective character of the series.

The sole is made of Vibram Megagrip with 5 mm lugs, which guarantees a very solid grip on rock, loose dirt, and wet surfaces. The lug design has been optimized to improve traction on varied terrain, although it is not its strong point in very deep mud.
