These La Sportiva Prodigio Max shoes combine a highly cushioned midsole with a wraparound upper and a high-grip outsole, offering a smooth yet controlled experience over long distances.
Runners who particularly benefit are middle- and long-distance trail runners, ultrarunners, and those who accumulate many hours of training on technical terrain , as the design prioritizes shock absorption and continuous comfort. Ideal for races ranging from mountain marathons to ultras of 100 km or more, as well as for long training sessions where the goal is to reduce fatigue without sacrificing traction and stability.
The upper is constructed with Comfort WIRE technology, a lightweight TPU fabric with embroidered threads that provides durability and support without adding unnecessary weight, along with the Wrapping System that wraps the foot from heel to instep for a firm and precise fit. The 3D mesh enhances breathability, and strategic reinforcements protect against impacts and abrasions on technical terrain, keeping the foot secure and stable on long runs.
The midsole uses XFlow Endurance compound, a nitrogen-infused supercritical foam that offers maximum cushioning and reduces muscle fatigue, as well as facilitating smooth transitions during the stride. This foam configuration, combined with a 5mm XFlow insole also made with recycled TPU foam, provides a comfortable feel even after many hours of use.
The outsole is made with FriXion® Red bi-component rubber (also referred to as FriXion XT 2.0) that balances grip and durability : a stickier rubber in the forefoot for traction and a more durable rubber in the heel for longevity. The approximately 4 mm lugs provide effective traction on dry, wet, or loose surfaces, and the moderate rocker geometry, along with a wider base, increases overall stability on uneven terrain.
