New Balance FuelCell Rebel Trail

The New Balance FuelCell Rebel Trail is a light and dynamic trail running shoe that brings the responsive character of the Rebel series to the mountain environment, maintaining a feeling of propulsion and agility but with greater traction, reinforcement, and stability for off-road use.

It is aimed at neutral runners looking for an agile shoe for not excessively technical trails, ideal for short and medium distances, approximately up to a mountain half-marathon in most cases. It performs especially well at medium or fast paces, where its reactive character can be leveraged, and on compact terrain, trails, and tracks, although it also handles more irregular mountain terrain without being a maximalist or highly protective shoe.

The upper uses a light and breathable mesh reinforced with 3D printed overlays that provide abrasion resistance and better foot support. The structure is more consistent than in the asphalt Rebel, with a reinforced tongue that helps secure the midfoot and improve fit on uneven terrain, prioritizing control without losing ventilation.

The midsole incorporates FuelCell compound, offering a feeling of propulsion and energy return characteristic of the range, but with a slightly more balanced feel to improve stability on the trail. It is not excessively soft, which allows for greater control on irregular supports, maintaining an agile and relatively close-to-the-ground stride.

The outsole features a full-length Vibram Megagrip compound with Traction Lug technology and deep lugs of approximately 5 mm, providing good grip on various surfaces, both dry and wet, and improving safety on ascents and descents, especially on moderate mountain terrain.
